A story using the words above

The forest was devoid of human noise, but it abounded with life. A scrawny fawn nibbled on foliage, while porcupines and marmots scurried through the shrubbery. Above, miler moths danced in midair, their wings catching the slant of the dwindling sun. The air was thick with the scent of lupines, their magenta blooms ornamenting the bogs near the beaver pond.

Ethan hauled himself over a hollowed stump, his quivering hand brushing against twigs and splinters. He had been snared by an unnamable yearning, one that beckoned him deeper into the woods. The tautness in his chest grew as he approached a sunlit pool, its surface iridescent under the dusk light. He knelt by the water, its girth reflecting his lopsided reflection.

A slithering sound made him turn. A grouse burst from the reeds, its wings spun in a frenzy. Ethan’s feral instincts kicked in, his grit pushing him to douse his fear. But as he stood, a raspy gasp escaped him. His throat felt obstructed, mucus clinging to his breath. He gasped, wailing into the silence, his body limp and flaccid.

In retrospect, he realized he had been relegated to this moment, a purge of his delirium. He cradledhis head, the withered crook of his arm trembling. The forest seemed uncannily still, as if holding its breath.

As he reconciled with his bewildered mind, a doe emerged from the aspens, her eyes gluing him to the spot. In her gaze, he found a strange atonement, one that sufficed for now. The ferociouslybeating heart of the forest had claimed him, and he was no longer idle.
